Product Description
This famous green tea gets its name from its distinctive leaf style, which is said to resemble gunpowder shot. The tea is steamed, rolled by hand and dried in large open pans over a fire. When hot water is added to the tea it unfurls to reveal whole leaves floating in a clear green liquor, with a fresh, delicate flavour.
From the Manufacturer
Taylors of Harrogate Imperial Gunpowder Loose Tea lets you brew the perfect cup of this refreshing, earthy blend. This tea takes its name from the greenish blue gunpowder color of the tightly rolled whole leaves, which resemble old-fashioned gunpowder shot. When hot water is poured onto these rolled leaves they “explode” by opening up to reveal pale green whole leaves floating in delicate, clear amber liquor which has a wonderfully sweet aroma. Green teas like this one are naturally low in caffeine and contain polyphenols which are valued for their antioxidant properties. Imperial Gunpowder tea is light with a slightly sharp flavor and it is best made a little weaker than Indian teas. This tea comes in an elegant and reusable tin that helps maintain its freshness. Taylors is the recipient of the British Tea Councils Best Cup of Tea in England award, which ensures that Imperial Gunpowder, like every tea they make, is of the highest quality.
